Overview

Accessibility refers to the ability for resources to be accessed. It might sound self-explanatory, but the nuances of accessibility can raise complex issues around design tradeoffs when managing resources. Some studies find that only 5% of websites comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) designed to wrap around standards derived from the American Disabilities Act. When it comes to substance use disorders, a lot of people aren’t even informed about what they can request as accommodations, either for a substance use disorder in non-treatment contexts or other disabilities in a treatment context.
