Overview
Benzodiazepines (benzos) are a class of sedative-hypnotic central nervous system (CNS) depressants. Depending on the variation and its half-life, it might be used for medical sedation, insomnia, panic attacks, chronic anxiety, seizure, and alcohol detoxification. They work by attaching to GABA receptors and make them more sensitive, with GABA as the brain’s primary calming neurotransmitter.
Benzos and alcohol are the two substances known for particularly dangerous withdrawals that can be life-threatening. I am not a doctor and nothing I say is medical advice, but you really should not attempt to quit either of those cold turkey on your own. Seeking medical professionals for assistance in managing withdrawals is not just potentially life-saving but a massively more comfortable way to process the hellish symptoms of them.
