Overview

The drift-diffusion model (DDM) is a framework in cognitive psychology and neuroscience that models how people quickly evaluate and make decisions between two choices. When we say quickly, we mean decisions with reaction times between 1 to 1.5 seconds with a single stage rather than reasoning problems that require carrying heuristics and models of a problem through multiple stages of decisions. 1
