Overview

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), often called dysmorphia as a shorthand, is a mental health condition in which someone is obsessively preoccupied with an apparent flaw that might be minor or nonexistent. These can include skin anomalies like acne or blemishes, hair conditions, nose shape, and overall bodily proportions, which someone might be excessively or compulsively checking. Repetitive actions, camouflaging, social avoidance, and heavy cosmetic investments like plastic surgery can all be symptoms of dysmorphia.
