Overview

Hazardous medicinal products (HMPs) are pharmaceutical substances that can have adverse health consequences or present health risks to both the healthcare workers managing them and the patients ingesting them. There is no single definition that’s universal, as different regulatory agencies use different processes to arrive at the label. Even within the United States alone, NIOSH, OSHA, the EPA, and the DOT all have varying definitions of “hazardous.”
