Overview
Inpatient programs involve staying in a treatment facility continuously in order to receive care.
Inpatient rehabs, also sometimes called residential treatment, are considered the most intensive level of care for substance use disorders, as well as other mental health disorders as appropriate. Bringing someone out of their old environment that’s laden with cues and routines related to their substance use is often critical in disrupting destructive spirals. This usually involves 24/7 medical supervision, regular appointments with therapists and psychiatrists, and group sessions involving other clients with the goal of building support networks between them.
