Findings

A survey of Pre-Post COVID-19 drinking habits found that drinking increased in 60.1% of respondents and remained the same for 27.0%. The top three reasons given where stress, boredom, and increased availability. Of those who consumed any alcohol over the past 30 days, 34.1% reported binge drinking at least once (~20% of all respondents) and 7% reported extreme binge drinking habits. Alcohol damages the body immune system, which means drinkers are more likely to get sick, which can then lead to more stress and boredom if required to isolate.
